Bio

Peggy Joque Williams is the author of the Amazon best-seller Courting the Sun: A Novel of Versailles. A retired elementary school teacher and avid researcher, Peggy’s fascination with genealogy and her French-Canadian, European, and Native American ancestry inspires her historical fiction. Having grown up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Peggy considers herself a “Yooper” by birth and a “Cheesehead” by choice. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in education and earned a master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Previous to writing Courting the Sun, Peggy co-wrote and self-published two mystery novels with her sister-in-law, Mary Joy Johnson. They are the Wisconsin Indie Project award-winning On the Road to Death’s Door and On the Road to Where the Bells Toll. She has also co-written and won screenwriting awards with Christine DeSmet. Their short film, The Stone Carver, made its debut at the Door County Film Festival in February 2024, and has been accepted into other film festivals since. Peggy is married with two adult children and three grandkids. She lives in Madison, Wisconsin.
